
As the educational wing of IACCP, the E.D.U.C.A.T.E. Initiative exists to support the development of educational opportunities and resources for IACCP members at all career stages.
Our main goals include:
Extending educational opportunities throughout IACCP
Developing skills through workshops and courses
Uniting IACCP members at different career stages through mentoring
Connecting knowledge through regular thematic meetings
Addressing emerging issues and needs
Tailoring accessible educational resources to the needs of IACCP members
Evolving research through funding of research and initiatives
The E.D.U.C.A.T.E. Initiative is comprised of a committee of IACCP members that organizes and coordinates its main events and opportunities, including the Culture & Psychology School, Kwok Leung Award, SPARK grants as well as activities responding to the dynamic needs of IACCP members.

Second E.D.U.C.A.T.E. Forum
The International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology’s (IACCP) E.D.U.C.A.T.E. Initiative will host the second E.D.U.C.A.T.E. Forum on Tuesday, November 18th 2025 at 5:00 pm WET
This virtual event will include a Research Colloquium, which is an opportunity for graduate students and early career researchers to present works in progress. See further information here.
Ongoing Initiatives
Mentoring Program
The Mentoring Program is a semi-structured mentoring initiative that invites mentors and mentees to participate in online group meetings during a one-year period (at kick-off, mid-way check-in, and wrap-up). Mentors and mentees can then plan their meetings and topics flexibly based on their needs.
The kick-off meeting was held on Monday, June 2nd 2025.
The mid-way check-in meeting will occur on Tuesday, October 28th 2025 at 5:00 pm.

Conceptualizations of the SELF in the MENA Region Webinar Series - Friday, January 24th 2025 through Friday, March 28th 2025
The E.D.U.C.A.T.E. Committee organised a four-part webinar series that delved into the concept of “self”, exploring cultural, psychological, and social perspectives from the Middle East and North Africa region. Each webinar consisted of a 45-minute presentation and 75 minutes for discussion. The webinars were:
- January 24th 2025 - Patterns of Independence and Interdependence in Mediterranean Societies: Comparative and Within-Region Perspectives (Professor Ayse Uskul, University of Sussex, UK)
- February 21st 2025 - Who is the Subject; What is the Nature of the Subject: Reflections on Conceptual Troubles (Distinguished Research Professor Emerita, Suad Joseph, University of California, USA)
- March 21st 2025 - The concept of the individual, Islam and the “cultural schizophrenia” (Professor Fereshteh Ahmadi, University of Gävle, Sweden)
- March 28th 2025 - Round Table Discussion of Conceptualizations of the Self in the MENA Region (Associate Professor Eva Heim, University of Lausanne, Switzerland)
Inaugural E.D.U.C.A.T.E. Forum - Thursday, January 16th 2025
The E.D.U.C.A.T.E. Committee held the inaugural E.D.U.C.A.T.E. forum on January 16th 2025, a unique opportunity to connect with other IACCP members, hear from experts in their fields, and stay up to date on cutting edge research. Presenters included Marta Żegleń from the University of Warsaw and Marie Kollek from the University of Hildesheim.
